How is reading time calculated?
We use an average adult reading speed of ~200 words per minute for general text, and ~250 wpm for technical text. This is an estimate — actual speed varies by reader and material.
What counts as a word?
We split on whitespace, so any group of characters separated by a space counts as one word. Empty strings are excluded.
What is the difference between 'with spaces' and 'without spaces' character counts?
'With spaces' counts every character including spaces and line breaks. 'Without spaces' counts only non-whitespace characters.
Do you store my text?
No. All analysis happens locally in your browser. Your text never leaves your device.
Is there a character or word limit?
There is no hard limit — the tool works entirely in your browser. Very large texts may slow down your browser, but for normal documents it is instant.
